What kind of makeup would look good on my skin?

I'm looking for a new style of makeup for myself. I have pale skin, a lot of freckles, and blueish-grey eyes. I'm starting to think the makeup i wear is too dark... Usually I just wear black eyeliner and black mascara, sometimes eyeshadow. Do you have any suggestions or tips on what kind of makeup would look good on my skin? What kind of makeup would look good on my skin?
I do think black is too dark. a purple/plum type of eyeshadow and eyeliner works great with people youre eyecolor/skin color. ive seen it on serveral people and i know plum seems weird but a dark plum will workWhat kind of makeup would look good on my skin?
OMG I had the same problem except for the frecklees! You should use NYCs smooth skin pressed foundation in701A or Translucent, brown eyeliner and black mascara. For eyes shadow do a dark brown on the lid and a ivory color all the way up to the brow. Or you could use Sandy Fair from Everyday minerals Report Abuse

Foundation/ Bronzer.- Cover girl has great foundation -$12 a case. Sometimes it does give you the Shiny look, but it will be fine with a little bit of Bronzer over the top of it. I recommend www.eyeslipsface.com . The Bronzer this is great, but you have to find it to match your skin tone. Everything is 1 dollar! Best Bronzer I have ever used.

Lip gloss/ Chastick- Lip gloss has an oil in it that promotes cold sores and chaped lips, no matter what kind you buy. My advise is to always apply an even layer of chapsick before you apply the lip gloss, that way the lipgloss won't be touching any skin and will keep your lips shiny without cold sores. (any kind of lip gloss is acceptable, my favorite is anything from eyeslipsface.com.)

Mascara- Maybelline Collassal Volume Express Mascara (The kind in the yellow bottle -$3 at drugstores) is amazing, it doesn't clump your lashes and doesn't leave you with racoon eyes when you go to take it off. You can get this mascara either waterproof or non-water proof.

Eyeliner- I like Revlon eyeliner pencil. It isn't waterproof though, but it does stay on until you take it off, and best of all, it doesn't smudge when you rub your eyes. -$8 at drugstores.

Eyeshadow- Covergirl has great eyeshadow, it is my favorite drugstore brand. -$6 a palette. It comes with every color you will need to pull off the look you are trying to go for.

Target has great brushes.

Hope I helped :D
I agree, black eyeliner and mascara is too dark for your coloring.

I'd try silver eyeshadow--nothing too glittery, just a soft shimmer. I think it would be really pretty with your eyes and skin tone. Use blue or grey eyeliner--black is too harsh.

For blush, decide whether pink or peach looks better--then use a light shade designed for someone with fair skin.

Lipgloss can be clear or with a slight tint in either pink or peach, matching with your blush. Keep the focus on your eyes.
i have pale skin and sometimes the same colored eyes, they change though, haha. I also used to wear thick black eyeliner and I still like it, but I do different things now too. Anyways, What my family and friends say look good is when i wear black eyeliner on the bottom of my eyes, and bronze and gold eye shadows on my eyelids, with just mascara. If you feel funky then you can go buy purple colored eye liner from hot topic, and put that on your top lid, but black on your bottom. With your skin and eyes its a very good idea so make your eye lashes pop because you're eyes are probably pretty. If you don't already have it I would suggest Define-a-lash mascara by mabelline. I don't have long eye lashes, but this makes them look really long, no joke, well as long as you use it right. Theres a lenthening one and a volume one, I would suggest both because if you were them at the same time, they are flawless! But don't get waterproof because its hard to get off, and it gets clumpy and I've lost a lot of eyelashes to it!

good luck!
Try using gold around your eyes. it looks great on everyone.

Try antique gold eyeshadow and pencil in the same colour on the inner rim. You can use a chocolate eyeshadow and apply it close to the bottom lashes like a blended eyelinder and to the outer third of the eye, then blue or black eyeliner.

Subtle but very pretty on fair skin.

You can try using a different color mascara like maybe dark brown instead of black. Also instead of using black eyeliner you can try a color eyeliner either blue to bring out the blue in your eyes or even brown usually is a good compliment for blue. Also check out MakeUpProducts.com they have makeup tips on there that may help you.
i also have pale skin and lighter eyes

and i use brown or gray eyeliner because black is too harsh against fair skin

i also use neutrogena healthy volume mascara in brown

for blush, i use either a peach or a rosey color

and eyeshadow, if i wear any, i tend to lean towards a taupe or lightbrown to enhance my eye color. hope it works :]
try using a brown/black mascara and eyeliner. it will look a lot less dramatic and more natural. and to make your eyes pop more use a white liner or white/light eye shadow in the tear duct of your eye and blend it in a bit.. I hope this helps a bit. :)
I have light skin too and I used to wear really dark makeup too. I found that just switching to brown, grey, or even blue eyeliner tones it down a little. I'd also try a lighter mascara. I have blue eyes too and i think brown eyeshadow brings my eyes the best (just don't go too dark).
wear a blue or brown eye liner so it wont look so dark and a brown mascara for the same dark reason for eye shadow id say pink , blue , silver, and white colors that are metallic but not dark but still noticeable look really good
dont wear any makeup, or wear just a little, like some masacara, or just eyeliner. you have pretty eyes, so you dont really need much makeup :)
a brown liner and brownish gold shadow, will make your eyes pop against your skin without being too dark. pink lips or a little bit of rosy blush will ';warm up'; your light skin tone.
yea that is too dark

my friend has your skin tone

and it just is too dark

were brown eyeliner

mascara(dark brown)

and light eyeshadow

like camel or creme or even light pink
grayish or brown eyeliner and maybe brown-black mascara

What is a good product to use for dry skin around eyes and lips?

I have extremely dry skin around my eyes and lips. My skin has become red and flaky. It also burns sometimes. I've tried several different products but nothing seems to work. I can't go to a dermatologist because I do not have health insurance right now. Does anyone have any suggestions? What is a good product to use for dry skin around eyes and lips?
Vaseline is best for the lips as it has no ingredients to cause allergy, and is very moisturizing if used after bathing when moisture has had a chance to be absorbed into your skin. Vaseline can then keep it there longer by forming a thin barrier to keep it from evaporating from your skin as quickly as it might. This also works on all skin locations the same way if applied after bathing. What is a good product to use for dry skin around eyes and lips?
i use a little vaseline

u can also use olive oil(works great for the skin)

and i also use a thick moistureizer called Deep Moisture Creamy, vaseline makes it and u can get it at walmart.
Try Paula's Choice products at www.cosmeticscop.com. This line has many good items that won't irrate your skin and can be used around the eye area. Check it out!
for lips you can use vaseline pet. jelly, for around the eyes, use a good extra moist. lotion.
Try products from MD Forte or MD Formulations

What drugstore foundation is good for dry skin with acne?

I want to to find a good quality foundation that won't break me out. Also how do you find the right color? What drugstore foundation is good for dry skin with acne?
To find the right colour you will need to use the tester that the store provides. If your store doesn't have testers I would recommend going somewhere else. There is really no way to know you have the right shade without trying any. Put a small amount on your jawline, you want to go vertically from below your cheek down to your neck (a 1 inch length is more than enough). If the shade blends into your natural skintone then you know you have the right colour. As for foundation that wont break you out, different people have different skin so what works for you may not work for someone else. I recommend a mineral foundation though for your acne, I've heard this tends to work well at clearing it up. I've heard that Bare Escentials (spelling?) is great at this, however I don't believe their products are available in drugstores. What drugstore foundation is good for dry skin with acne?
Before you apply any foundation I think that you should apply a good moisturizer, so your skin won't be dry. I know that dry skin has trouble reflecting light so the foundation would look just flat and fake, so yeah i think a good moisturizer is veryyy important.

I don't think that any foundation would be GOOD for acne but if you buy mineral foundation it shouldn't be that bad.

To find the right colour foundation you should apply a little on your jaw line, and apply a little on your neck, because you don't want an orange face and a pale neck, or vice versa :)

okay so;

1. get a good moisturizer

2. Mineral foundation (powder)

3. Apply on jaw line and neck

good luck!!
i think Neutrogena would be great for you.

first try and match your color to the swatches they have. then pick the three closest ones and swatch them on your jaw. the one that disappears is yours. if none of them match, try blending two together.

How do you get rid of flabby skin after weight loss?

I just lost 15 pounds. I joined Weight Watchers and started walking. I walk 3 miles a day. I have no more wieight I need to loose, but I don't know how to firm up the flabby skin on my inner thighs. Any advice? How do you get rid of flabby skin after weight loss?
There was something I started doing to do JUST that- get rid of inner flab on my thinghs! Lucky you, you got me to tell you that I...:

I began doing what I call the ';frog';, in which i held lightweight dumbells in my hands (4 lbs) and spread my legs knee-width apart. Then I bend my knees and squat, legs knee width apart, and touch the dumbells to the ground. The exercise targets the inner thighs excellently and will tone them fast. It got rid of my flab in no time.

You might want to start out without any dumbells at first, case you get hurt cause your thighs aren't used to it =)How do you get rid of flabby skin after weight loss?
U have lost it too fast. Continue with ur walks, it might firm up in due course.
lipo
strength training 4x a week will tone you up and get rid it .. its free and natural.. Moving forward, always strength train and do cardio..

What is the best way to maintain skin elasticity when losing weight?

I have quite a bit of weight to lose and am TERRIFIED of sagging skin. There is a definite difference between sagging skin and untoned muscle. Once you have sagging skin, you may as well opt for surgery. It is almost impossible to get rid of. How can I prevent this? I am most concerned about my stomach and my inner thighs. I am in my late twenties. I am sure I need to drink plenty of water and moisturize. Any other tips? Please help. I would almost rather be heavy than have my skin sag...What is the best way to maintain skin elasticity when losing weight?
You're in your late 20's so your skin still has a lot of elasticity. If you are morbidly overweight, you will have some skin sagging no matter how old you are. If you are just moderately overweight, your skin may be able to spring back.

All I can suggest is that you make sure your diet includes plenty of healthy whole foods. What is the best way to maintain skin elasticity when losing weight?
ME TOO!! I am 22 years old. I am in the process of losing weight and I would looove to know how I can keep my skin from sagging. I have seen so may surgery shows where the person loses significant weight and they still have to be surgically put back together lol. I dont wanna look like fat bastard from Austin Powers!!!

Boo...

What do you consider morbidly overweight and moderately overweight?

Btw, I am using a skin firming lotion by jergens. Not sure if it works but I will try anything!
there isnt much you can do if you have quite a bit of skin left, but luckily you are young and so is your skin.. start using lotions and stuff with collagen in it, as it improves the elasticity of skin.

  • Can you eat a peach with its skin on?

I'm planning a stunt for a class tomorrow in my project, and I need to do it quick. So is it possible to eat a peach just randomly with its fuzz on it?Can you eat a peach with its skin on?
yes. i do it all the timeCan you eat a peach with its skin on?
Sure! A peach fresh off the tree is delicious!
    Yep. Wash first before eating.

    Have a great day! : D
ofcourse it is how else do you eat it? dont tell me you peal it everytime before you eat it!
WASH it very good first, THEn go 4 it .
You're kidding- right? When was the last year you ate a piece of fruit? Was it after the turn of the Century??! The ONLY people I know who want their peaches pealed- are pre-schoolers! Be a ';man'; %26amp; go for it. You might actually LIKE it!!! :0
Yes you can I think its good. Just wash it off
    Yes.
    Sure.
Yes, just make sure that it has been thoroughly rinsed to get rid of any pesticides.
    Thats the best part.
    wash it real clean first.
yeah dude...is this the first peach you have ever eaten?
Surly you can... just wash it throughly.
    yes, most definitely
Sure- but wash it first..and don't swallow the huge pit inside .
if you can stand the tickle, it's perfectly safe!
Why not? They're edible and easy to eat.
Sure , if you can stand it. It gives me the chill's. I blanch them 1st to remove the fuzz.
no..if you do..you will grow peach fuzz on the roof of ur mouth a peach fuzz monsters will breed on ur tongue and dance.

yes you can eat the skin.
Yeah !!! a duh!! What's wrong with eating a peach with a skin on??? Yes of course !!! You just have to wash it!!! I sometimes do if it is necessary , like if you have just picked some peaches and want to see if you like it sure you can just wash it!! But most of the times i like to eat it without the skin but the bad thing is just the skin is some times been on the ground and it looks so disgusting that you don't even feel like eating it up. (you might feel as if you want to puke)LOL!!!

    Hope this helps!!

P.S I guess you've never eaten a peach with skin on it so this must be a pice o good advise. by the way try it it might be nice!!!
You can. I've seen people do it before. Not sure how good it is, though, I haven't done it myself!
Yes you may, but you really should wash it to remove any tree fruit bug spray that may be on it. Also you never no who has handled the peach, so just for your own sake I would wash it. Why not wash a few that way it won't matter which peach you grab. However, If you grew the peach in you own back yard then there is no worry at all...

    ms.kittyd
I don't think peaches are in season, but yes you can eat them with there skin on them
    is there any other way?!
I only eat peaches that are whole with their fuzzy skin on them.
    yes u can
some people will not like it, but yes, i eat it with the fuzz on :)

    just make sure it's ripe!
You need to practice eating some peach fuzz before the class starts.
Not only is it possible but it is advisable, that is where a good part of the benefits lie ..to keep the peach in the great condition you get them a lot of stuff has been sprayed on them to protect from pests,so you need to wash well before eating .
    wash first. then eat...

i do that all the time. =)

What causes the yellow discoloration of the skin?

A woman, a friend of my parents' has a yellow discoloration on the palm of her hands and a little bit appearing on her nose. Does she have some type of illness? I'm afraid to ask her myself because I don't want to offend her. What causes the yellow discoloration of the skin?
maybe yellow jaundice hence yellowWhat causes the yellow discoloration of the skin?
all of ther previous answers are correct, however the most common cause of yellow skin discoloration is anemia. this is an iron deficiency in your blood. some people don;t get enough iron in their diet and some people get anough but have problems absorbing it.
She probably has cirrhosis or hepatitis-- both very serious liver conditions-- or something wrong with her bile duct. Is the woman an alcoholic?
If the liver is not malfunctioning, and if your friend is a health nut, what comes to mind is carotenemia, where the level of beta-carotene has gotten quite high. No danger, just wierd looking. I had a coworker quit smoking and take up carrots to replace them, and ate so many she turned orange.

Bottom line: we can't diagnose or even make very good guesses in this forum without complete information.
It can be caused by a taxed or compromised liver (jaundice)or hepatitis I beleive. It also could be a circulatory disorder.
Might be a liver or kidney disorder. She should have it checked out fast!
Sickle cell maybe my friend has it and she is like that even her eyes. and when she is sick they turn so yellow they look almost green
She could have Hepatitis or Jaundice. You can also get a yellow colorization if you eat too many carrots. It is called carrotonitis.
hmmmm, i know, you could play a game with her in which you each come up with a Native American name for the other. She could come up with 'nosey-rosey' and you could come up with 'yellow-paws' or 'yellow-honker' for her. when she asks why those names you can ask what the problem is without offending her. i think you know why she comes up with 'nosey-rosey' for you.
    jaundice maybe.

What can I do to prevent my skin from looking all shiny/oily during the day?

I have oily skin. Luckily I can keep acne under control, but my skin still gets all shiny and greasy looking during they day. It's mostly my nose, but a little on my forehead and chin, too. When I put on my makeup, my skin looks fine but about two hours later it's gross, and I don't want to have to bring my makeup to school. What can I do to stop it from getting oily in the first place? What can I do to prevent my skin from looking all shiny/oily during the day?
This is what keeps you looking younger longer than other women when you get older you will look younger. My skin used to do that and all I know is you have to blot it with a Kleenex and touch it up with some concealer if you have time. What can I do to prevent my skin from looking all shiny/oily during the day?
I usually just carry those oil blotting sheets in my purse. Do a quick swipe in the restroom in between classes and you're good to go. =]
that happens to me and i am a guy ; i usually try to just try not to think about it
put rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and rub that on your face. It grabs oil and leaves your face shine-free -- it works every time
I found a product called ACNEXUS that is awesome. It exfoliates, penetrates and revitalizes the skin in one formula that you wash your face with twice a day. In about a week, my skin was completely clear, and the product is all natural ingredients and NO CHEMICALS.

Good Luck....you are going to love this stuff....we sure do! and we paid about $30.00 for a pump bottle that lasts about two months.
you might need to use oil blotting sheets. Or you can use loose powder or translucent powder over your makeup.

Maybe you should use cleansers for oily skin or makeup for oily skin.

The clinique superbalanced liquid foundation, i think, is for oily skin
I have the same problem and yes, there is a solution. If you go to any pharmacy like CVS/Pharmacy or Walgreens, look for Clean %26amp; Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets and you wipe one of these across your face in the morning and say goodbye to oily skin! Its relatively simple.

    Good Luck!
I LOVE the little ';oil-soaking'; pads they sell at most drug stores. It's a pad of thin little papers and they really do the trick for oil. They're sold by several different brands for not too much loot (mine are usually around $5) and they're like the size of a credit card and maybe a centimeter thick so theyre not too much to lug around. Good luck :-)
    get da nevea face wash
you can buuy these blue paper thingys at the drug store wipe them across ure face and it will take off the oil aswell it wont take off your make up.....leaves ure face feeling fresh you can buy them from a non name brand or neutragen ahas them as well neutragena has a face wash for anti oily skin
powder it up with baby oil but not too much unless you want to look white all over.

What can you do to prevent oily skin after applying makeup?

In the morning I go through my daily routine of putting on makeup, doing my hair, etc. But i notice throughout the day that my skin gets very oily and my foundation wears away. I usually put on a little foundation for a good base and then top it off with a powder. Does anyone have any suggestions that would help prevent this? What can you do to prevent oily skin after applying makeup?
you could use Balancing Moisturiser (Young Skin or Under Make-Up) or you could try Hollywood Oil Blotting Paper (Take The Shine Away Without Removing The Makeup) heres links to both i hope they help you :)

Airbrushing make up is always a good choice when you have a problem with makeup coming off or want coverage that will Last for long.

Dinair has a water-proof line that stays on up to 18 hours. The coverage is great makes you look flawless! I haven鈥檛 seen them in retail stores. The best place to purchase a Dinair airbrushing kit is Palazah.com.
i would say that when u wash u face that u use a oil free moisturizer b4 applying make up then apply ur make up then apply translucent powder.

if this doesn't work i would suggest not applying make up that u don't need or not applying so much. and always remember to wash ur face thoroughly !!!!! after wearing make up !!!! hope i helped :]
Rimmel has a great foundation primer for $7. My makeup looks great after a long day and I do not touch up. I would start there and if it doesn't work for you, look for another. I would start with the cheaper primers before moving to more expensive primers.
Use a foundation that is oil-free. Once you start there the powder will actually start to help.

You can also buy blotter papers to remove the excess oil throughout the day.
you can use translucent powder just apply it like a powder it takes away all ashine and does not make you breakout and it also keeps the makeup on soooo much longer!
Instead of preventing after make up, y not cure it.

Nature has its best and permanent cure, try to spend your precious time in looking at my video in youtube.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBwk8clsc鈥?/a>
Use a face primer for oily skin, i use the Yves Saint Lauren one and it's great.
    use zapzyt.

it's only a few bucks at drugstores.

it makes oily skin not shiny.

    and it';ll dryout your zits.

but apply it under your make up.

How does one get rid of excess skin after weight loss?

I have lost 40 pounds and have a small amount of excess skin at the base of my stomach. Surgury is out of the question but I dont want to wait the years it will take to happen naturaly.

How can I nuturally ';tighten'; this skin? How does one get rid of excess skin after weight loss?
It depends on your age. The younger you are, the more elasticity your skin has and the higher the chance that the skin will return to normal. If you are middle-aged or older the skin isn't nearly as elastic and surgery is typically the only option. No exercise can drastically move skin back to it's proper position when it is sagging due to aging, weight loss, etc. Basically, if you happen to be a member of the slightly older crowd, then surgery is your only option. How does one get rid of excess skin after weight loss?
exercise can only do so much if that dont work surgery is the only option
That depends on your age. Younger skin has more elasticity and will reshape faster than mature skin which needs surgery in most cases. If you get with a weight trainer at a gym, that person can target that area for you, too. Congratulations on your weight loss! That's a wonderful achievement !!!

鈻?scrub), cleanse, tone, moisturize these are the basic steps to achieve healthy and smooth skin..

scrub once a week. I recommend:

    *St. Ives Apricot Scrub

    *Neutrogena Scrub

    Cleanse

*facial wash that you always use and doesn't cause breakouts..

Tone - to cleanse deep seated dirt that your cleanser left..

    * Dickinson's Witch Hazel Astringent (Blue variant is milder than the yellow variant, but I'm using the yellow one and it doesn't cause me any breakouts so far)

    Moisturizer

*HYLEXIN but it's kind of a bit expensive for an eye cream.. but it's really effective..

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR FACIAL REGIMEN!!What are the essential skin products for healthy and smooth skin?
I would just go with a simple moisturizer the for the face with like spf 15 sun protection. Don't put to much **** on your face you'll screw up the ph balance and end up clogging your pores. Also depending on how old you are, toners often times make your face oily. For your body definitly go with coconut oil. Seriously i've tried everything and it is the healthiest for your skin. Don't use anything with mineral oil, it is the shitiest and cheapest oil there is and clogs you pours.

Look into coconut oil if you want healthy skin.
I use a lot of skincare products and don't stick to a particular brand.

I have about 7-10 products to use from cleansing to moisturizing each time, excluding weekly treatments. :)

Each product has to suit a person's skin type and apply to their needs.

The normal essential skin product is cleanser, toner, serum, eye cream, moisturizers and sunblock for day.

Other than that skin cleansing lotion before facial wash, weekly sessions of pore cleansing, scrubs, masks etc will also a big help for a flawless skin.
The rarest and most useful natural skin care product you could possibly use is Argan oil. It is high in all the essential properties to give you the healthiest and smoothest skin you could ever have. Finally this thousands of year old secret kept by the Berber women of Morocco is finding its way over to the US.

You should buy products especially for oily skin, and a thin, non-oily face lotion with salicylic acid. A good moisturizer or serum for your face is important--if your skin is too dry you will produce more oil, but if the lotion is too oily that is a big problem, too. Gently wash your face twice a day, but don't overdo it. And, if your problem is really bad, then go see a dermatologist for the best results.
its genetic. and there isn't much that you can do to fix it. but u can drink green tea and that reduces the oi on your skin by a tad. and believe it or not, lotion reduces oily skin.
After washing your face using St. Ives Apricot Scrub, moisturize it using, believe it or not, extra-virgin olive oil to lock in the moisture.
    forget home remedies.use stridex.
    Flour.
    soap and water.
    wash your face

What is the best foundation for dry skin?

I have dry skin and prone to spots when the weather is warm and would like to know what product to use that doesn't irritate the skin too much and how often you should apply foundation? What is the best foundation for dry skin?
I have super duper dry skin and is prone to break outs during summer and I get red spots at times also.

I've tried a lot of foundations.

I can assure you that LIQUID FOUNDATION is NOT recommended for dry skin. nor are cream foundation. Mainly because those types of foundation are often ';matte'; which absorbs the oil from your face. which in turn make your skin even more dry. I used maybelline and covergirl liquid foundation before and it just ended up making my skin peel after a few seconds of application. I could only use minimum in tiny areas. it also doesn't do very well in coverage for dry skin (since we can't really blend it out as it would dry up the skin). my bf was always asking me why i have a patch of off coloured skin on my face (which i realised was theliquid foundation)

Also with liquid foundation, i've also noticed that i break out in them during summer or humid days. liquid foundation doesn't do a good job in ventilation, esepcially when our skin is dehydrated.

My holy grail is mineral foundation. It's the ONLY foundation that does not dehydrate my skin, i dn't break out in mineral foundation during hot days. it doesn't make my skin crack or peel. the coverage is great as you can apply as much or as little as you wish. I wear minimal foundation, only where theres blemish or uneven skin. sometimes I just wear mineral foundation on one side of my face it people cannot tel the difference! it looks like you're wearing no foundation

also, another thing with mineral foundation i noticed is that it lasts a LOT longer than liquid. it stays put all day so you won't be reapplying during the day. I wear mineral foundation to uni, i apply before i leave the house, and when i come home 4-7hrs later my face still look flawless.

tip for red spots: apply green mineral foundation first on the spots then coat it off with mineral foundation of your skin tone. :)What is the best foundation for dry skin?
I use a moisturising foundation - it's Maybelline Wonder Finish, and i only apply it once a day because it's bad to clog up your pores with makeup. So i also wash my face with makeup remover before bed. If you don't want to have a cakey look, just an even skin tone.. You can get a light moisturiser and then use mineral foundation. That's probably better for your skin. Just don't over-do the moisturiser because it makes you look shiny :)
Liquid foundation is best for dry skin, or tinted moisturiser, if you don't need that extra coverage. Oil-based works best, and be sure to avoid matte-finish types, as they could make your skin look dull and chalky. Mineral foundations supposedly aren't any good for those with dry skin either.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind liquid foundation is quite good as it hydrates your skin, and contains SPF sunscreen. MAC products are generally well-regarded, and Clinique is also really good for dry skin, apparently.

Foundation should only really be applied once, when you're getting ready to go out, although I think some occaisions require a quick touchup throughout the day. If you're worried about staying power, Maybelline New York SuperStay Silky Foundation could be worth a shot. It's liquid, and I think also oil-based, which should work for your skin.

I wouldn't reccommend wearing foundation every day of the week, but sometimes you can't help it, if you have to go out and work and you prefer to wear makeup. The biggest no-no would be not removing it entirely before you go to sleep, so invest in some makeup-remover facial wipes, which makes this chore much more convenient. Try one with aloe vera, to help with your dry skin.

You could try using rosehip oil on your face at night, I've heard it works wonders. Or try some of these tips:

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/article鈥?/a> http://www.natural-homeremedies.com/home鈥?/a>

    Good luck.
i have dry skin too, but it can also get very oily.

i use an oil free foundation, but i mix it half and half with my gel-creme moisturiser for combination skin.

then apply all over with a foundation brush.

the moisturiser sinks in quickly and the foundation is distributed evenly, with no flakes, caking, or pore clogging.

it really works well for me.
I have SUPER dry skin I think I have to driest skin in the World lol use Laura mercier Moisturizing foundation Its great my face isn't dry when I put this stuff on. Also try her tinted moisturizers with spf 20 in it great for the summer I hoped I helped.=)
Clinique Dewy smooth is really good for dry skin!!

Avoid Matte foundations because they are likely to dry out the skin!

Always cleanse (again clinique three step skincare is amazing) and apply moisturiser to dry patches.

I apply my foundation in the morning and touch up throughout the day!
i also have dry skin. I normally wear MAC studio sculpt foundation in gel-based. It includes sp15 and it also hydrates your skin. You might want to moisturize your skin before applying foundation.
maybelline dream matte mousse is the best for u

give it a try it is cheap
The most effective thing to use is E45, or vascaline. But if you want to cover up and moisturize I suggest Boots No.7 Foundation.
A light layer of Vaseline, or cocoa butter. I dont know about the foundation though.
i use true Match and it really good and u all got to use cream for dry skin before u apply foundation

Why are some Black people lighter in skin tone than others?

Talking about non mixed with other races where their ancestors from other parts in Africa where skin tone is lighter? Why are some Black people lighter in skin tone than others?
    Um...This is an obvious question.

Black people come in all shades and colors, just like Hispanics. People always assume it has something to do with being mixed, but thats not always the case. Two dark skin black parents can have a fair-skinned child. Why? Because of our diverse genetics. We have ancestors have different colors and races that can be traced back for ages. And alot of slave women were raped by white slave masters back in the old days in America, so that is also probably one of the reasons. Why are some Black people lighter in skin tone than others?
There is genetic variation among humans in all characteristics, including skin tone. As people moved north from Africa to places where they got less sunlight, their skins got lighter so they could absorb more sunlight for making vitamin D, which is essential for health. People near the sunny equator got plenty of sun, so they could continue to prosper with darker skin and still get enough vitamin D. In this sense, dark skin is the default for humans, and lighter skin an adaptation.
Primarily due to the mixing of races. You can look at the black slaves that were at one time in America nd the slaves that are in Africa and see how dark they are, how tight their hair is etc...now look at the blacks in America they don't look the same. That was due to a lot of rapes during slavery times, and despite what one wants to believe the majority of rapes were done by the black man to the white woman. And a lot of male slave owners had black woman as mistresses.
well there are places where africans skin are lighther but the reason that there are lighter colors of black skin is because at some point races were mixed. just because both parents are products of black parents doesnt mean that somewhere down the like of genes their wasnt a white ancestor. during slavery alot of black slaves got pregnant by their white owners. and once the lighter skin tone was established, it moved down generations. genetics is random like that. there are like 32 different shades of black skin, and 7 of white skin. our genetics made it that way and mixture of racial profiles.
Africans are genetically very diverse, much more so than Europeans. Europeans have a variety of skin tones, so do Africans. Africans derive from very ancient ethnic groups and/or very new ones. Some African groups are 200,000 years old, some are less than 10,000, and everywhere in between.

As an example, people from Sudan are often very dark skinned, people from the 'bushmen' ethnic group tend to be much lighter.
common would be skin bleaching, more women are lighter than men somewhat because of this, which is really really sad and pathetic. another reason is genes, im light skinned because i have white ancestors blah blah blah, and many black people are also the same. another reason is the sun :)
Why do some white people have blue eyes, brown eyes and some grey and some black? Its alleles.
    Less pigmentation.

  • How can you get rid of excess skin on your arms?

Due to a loss of weight, arms are very wrinkled. What can I do to make the wrinkles diminish? How can you get rid of excess skin on your arms?
You have to wait a while and the skin will eventually adjust - at least as much as it can. In cases of extreme weight loss, the skin may not tighten up completely. In the mean time, You can help reduce the wrinkles by staying fully hydrated, and toning the muscles by exercise.

What do I do about the tortured skin from all the Benzoyl peroxide use?

Been using Benzoyl peroxide 5% gel for four months now. Although most of the acne has gone, my skin is left pockmarked and wrinkled. What do I do about this ? Also, what other risks am I running after such prolonged use? What do I do about the tortured skin from all the Benzoyl peroxide use?
No risks except gaining wrinkles faster because your skin is dry and less elastic. So, lotion your face a lot with non-clogging face lotion!!!

How can i get rid of my skin allergy?

Ive had skin hives for 8 weeks straight. Ive tried 2 different allergy meds prescribed, but i still get them. I changed laundry detergent to the Unscented/allergy free kind but nothing works. Any suggestions? How can i get rid of my skin allergy?
    CHANGE almost everything.

    Bedsheets, for example.

Wash everything in really hot water.

Switch to cotton sheets and clothing. Give up perfume and any kind of soap or body lotion that isn't specifically for your allergies.

Start keeping records of what you touch and use - and when the hives are worse.

Aveeno Oatmeal soap seems to be the safest for me and my ( also allergic) husband. Unscented, of course. How can i get rid of my skin allergy?

You may be allergic to something you have ingested, have you been eating something new or taking a new drug? You should probably see an allergist and get a skin test.

Have you been using a topical allergy ointment since it started? I once had poison ivy for a few months until I figured out that the poison ivy had gone and I was allergic to Benedryl.

Use henna ink, it stays on for about 1-2 weeks and is real easy to use and you can find it in a lot of stores.

What can you do to make your skin look natural with coverup outdoors?

I use cover up to cover up some acne scares and like i use conceler then foundation, it looks fine indoors but when i go outside it looks really fake and like the texture of how it really looks. I cant cover it how every many times i do you can see it in the sun. How can i make it look natural and fine like it does indoors? What can you do to make your skin look natural with coverup outdoors?
hard question.. because the indoor lighting is much more easier than the sun from outside.

what u need to do is moisturize and exfoliate ur skin well. the smoother ur skin, the more natural the makeup will look. then find coverup/foundation that matches you EXACTLY. that really helps.

good luck..and try putting honey on the acne areas when at home, and wash off w/ warm water later. it helps w/ killing bacteria. what i do is sleep w/ a thin layer of honey on my whole face, (put a towel on the pillow and try not to move around too much). What can you do to make your skin look natural with coverup outdoors?
Try the new Neutrogena Mineral Sheers foundation. It comes in a self dispensing brush...It is similar to Bare Escentuals, but a LOT cheaper! These new mineral foundations are like magic! I don't know what I ever did without them...I STILL use Max Factor Panstik as a concealer, my favorite old standby, because it blends fabulously!
put a BIT of bronzer on checks forehead and chin, thats what i do
important to remember that the purpose of using make-up is to enhance your natural looks without looking like you're wearing any!

makeup should enhance your beauty and not be overdone. You could wear a bronzing gel to even out your skintone. A bronzing powder will give you a bronzed look, great for summer. Minimal makeup would be using a peach eyeshadow and deep brown or green mascara. Have some fun with color and let your inner beauty shine through!
a good quality makeup is essential. mineral makeup is awsome for covering blemishes and looking natural. exfoliating is also important, as someone else said.

if you are not going to use mineral makeup (or even if you do) you have to make sure you don't cake it on. a good concealer does not require you to put more than a dot on at a time.

start with a thin layer of foundation and keep adding more if you need it. buff on a little powder and blend with a clean spounge makeing sure to blend around the jaw line.
Try using spray on makeup such as Sally Hansen Fast and Flawless Airbrush Makeup for all Skins. Then use a powder to get rid of shine Hope it helps : )
You should absolutley try Bare Escentuals, I love it and have had nothing but compliments on my skin.......Very much worth it!!

What is the best way in preventing the skin from peeling around(the sides and below) your fingernails?

Sometimes it can be raw and sore underneath the peeled skin. What is the best way in preventing the skin from peeling around(the sides and below) your fingernails?
Try taking vitamins orally - it helps - sometimes our hands crack. As we're lacking something.

You can do a sea salt scrub in the shower to take off dead skin and lock in moisture. Make your own with a little olive oil and kosher salt (or buy one at the mall or drug store).

Try also looking in to vaseline (the brand) makes a cocoa gel it really helps lock in moisture in the shower -

A pure and natural hand cream works wonders (avoid all creams with mineral oil)

Lastly a good manicure helps jump start this process most places are under $15.. never hurts -What is the best way in preventing the skin from peeling around(the sides and below) your fingernails?
Experience is always its better to wash hands every two hours to keep them active and avoid dryness and not at all the need comes to peel off the skin around nails
Are you biting your fingernails? If so, stop doing that.

try product that has Benzoyl Peroxide.

This chemical has been around for a long time since the 1920 and it is one of the most frequently used ingredients. For decades Benzoyl Peroxide has been very effective in treating mild cases of non-inflammatory acne. Products such as Clearasil and ProActive uses it as an active ingriedient in treating pimple. It鈥檚 safe for children as well as adults, and may combined with other topical or oral treatments.
    # Become well-acquainted with baking soda. Seriously, it may seem odd, but baking soda has become one of my best allies in fighting acne. Simply make a paste of baking soda and water (you want to aim for a slightly-thinner than toothpaste consistency) and rub it gently on your skin for about 30 seconds after you have used your facial cleaner. Then, rinse it off gently with warm water. While you can use this two times a day (morning and night), I recommend only using it at night, as it can irritate sensitive skin. As we all know, irritation can only make acne worse.

What products can I use on very sensitive skin for cleaning and care?

xWhat products can I use on very sensitive skin for cleaning and care?
i use tescos face wash for sensitive skin and that is very mild, i also use the simple range and that is very mild. try these!!
Have you tried the aveeno products with soy??? I've got sensitive skin too and these work for me!
See a dermatologist and make sure you don't have an allergy or other condition that you don't want to make worse and ask him or her to recommend products that will help protect your skin. In general look for things with as few ingredients as possible and soothing ingredients like oatmeal.
    Cetaphil!
I have really sensitive skin too and have found...

Best moisturiser: E45 lotion. Its fragrance-free and really light on your skin.

Best cleanser: Clearasil scrub- so soft on the skin and not harsh like other cleansers.

I also like Avon facial scrub blackhead remover which is also very effective and not too grainy.
Try organic and non-perfumed products such as:

    Jurlique

    Caudalie, and

Dr Hauschka - this one is probably the best. Madonna even uses it!
Steam regularly. Don't poke or extract your blackheads harshly like there is no tomorrow. i do believe that we have the same, oily to combination skin type, especially around our T-Zone. It is interesting for people to think that avoiding creams can help solve oily skin. But its wrong. You just have to find the right-based cream. Cream and Water-based works best for skin like ours. Veer away from oil based creams during day time, you can use them during the night.

You can best help your skin if you do the 3-step facial regimen: wash, tone and moisturize. Washing helps remove dust that accumulated on the surface of the skin, toning provides additional cleaning as well as it preps the skin by removing dead skin cells that can just block healthy cells' absorption of the third step, the moisturizer.

The key is to be able to find the right product to help you with your problem. I can suggest the brand: Mario Badescu. They have a line of products that really is good for our type of skin, I personally recommend the Enzyme Cleansing Wash, Cucumber Toner and the best HONEY MOISTURIZER. If you use these products, they don't have the same ''stretched-dry-skin'; that other products leave. This is often the misconception of people, that dryness and no oil means clean skin. What Mario Badescu does is gently and effectively clean it. Plus they're natural.

For additional cleaning and maintenance on acne, try their DRYING LOTION pink stuff that you put on your pimples which dries it, ACNE GEL, which serves as your drying lotion maintenance during day time. To Remove black marks that are left by acne, use their GLYCOLIC WASH and BUFFER LOTION. Check out their line of products online. I dont work for them, its just that they really work and i would like to share it with you.
Cetaphil works wonders. It moisturizes and is safe for everyday use. It comes as a cleanser and a moisturizer which won't clog pores.

    Good Luck
i was told my my derm. to use dove soap, if you havent used it yet.

tap water? like you just use water and nothing else because you're so sensitive?..

What is the fastest action natural or commercial skin lightening product?

I'm currently trying to lighten some areas of brown spots on my skin and I'm torn between either going for a natural cocktail of honey and lemon juice _or_ a hydroquinoine skin cream.

I'm aware of the risks involved in using both, but I was wondering which of the two you think would render the quickest results.

I have about 9 days left before an event where I'm going to have to keep my arms bare and I would rather they didn't look so bad by then.

PS: Makeup isn't an option! :)What is the fastest action natural or commercial skin lightening product?
try the diana stalder products,,, cheaper price and very affordable...

http://www.freewebs.com/pinaybeautyprodu鈥?/a>What is the fastest action natural or commercial skin lightening product?
a good skin lightening product does NOT contain hydroquinone, mercury or steroids.. plus it should be potent unlike most commercial products out there.. when you start using skin lighteners, use a high spf (50 or better) sunscreen too to prevent further darkening and sun damage..

you only have 9 days left... the skin lightening process involves exfoliation/peeling of the outermost skin layer.. you should have started this a month ago yet.. when skin peels, a fresher lightened layer resurfaces.. again, make sure you wear sunscreen when outdoors..

What do you recommend for itchy and sensitive skin?

I just brought Gentle Naturals lotion for my itchy skin and I am wondering if anyone tried this? It's for babies but I thought it would be safe to be used for my skin since it's really sensitive. If not, are there any great products out there good for daily use for itchy/red/sensitive skin? What do you recommend for itchy and sensitive skin?
I have very sensitive skin when it comes to dry winter air and the sun, and Goldbond Medicated lotion helps a lotWhat do you recommend for itchy and sensitive skin?
    Aveeno
i havent tried the gentle naturals range, but if you have really sensitive skin try qv cream/wash as it really works well, you shouldn't break out at all look for things that are soap free or low ph levels.
My skins is very sensitive as well... I've never used Gentle Naturals but I have heard that it works. My fav lotion is goat milk. Smooth, goes a long way, and is very natural and never hurts my skin. The lady I buy it from makes it herself (like, owns the goats and everything!) and makes then very full of fragrance. Very enjoyable. And, I have a nasty habit when I'm sweating, I wipe my upper lip on my shirt sleeve. That ALWAYS hurts my skin but it's a habit. Anyway, i use a bit of lotion right below my nose and it stops the stinging and doesn't cause pimples.
I recommend SARNA... a topical lotion that really relieves skin itch. I use it because my skin is quite sensitive. It works.

How do you get bruise marks off your skin?

Trust me, I'm really really young. Do I need to drink more water or what do I need. No I'm not getting plastic surgery. How do you get bruise marks off your skin?
Drinking water does make your skin healthier, but it doesn't take away bruises that you already have. Just give it time and your bruises will go away. In the mean time if you are embarrassed by them and depending where they are located you can try to cover them with make up.How do you get bruise marks off your skin?
    i use coco butter lotion
hey just use lots of lotion
DRINK MORE WATER BUT I HEARD IF YOU PUT ICE ON IT.
They go away on their own in about two weeks, max. There's not much else you can do. If you are having bruising problems, such as you're bruising very, very easily, you should see a doctor as there could be an underlying problem, but blood disorders are fairly rare. Under normal circumstances, such as you fell and hit something, there shouldn't be a problem. The longest I have ever had a bruise was about a month, when some floor boards collapsed under me and I bruised my thigh badly. Suprised I didn't break my leg.
i fell off my computer chair once cause it was getting old and stuff and i scratched my arm on my computer table it was bleeding a lot then it lefted a long scar there i putted on a bandaged and after a year it went away
Bruise marks go off on its own.... Give it a little time.
just let it go away by itself. thats what i do.
you dont you cover them with make up until they go away by themselvs

time is the only real solution
um just time is all you really can do.
let it get off by its own, but to cover them try using foundation
    scar treatment

    http://www.askaquery.com/question/How-to鈥?/a>
Bruises are broken (bruised) blood vessels. They repair themselves within time. just wait a bit.
    Time will heal.

Meanwhile, if it bothers you you could try putting foundation or powders on it to make it less noticeable, or wear clothes/accessories that detract attention or cover it up altogether.

Warm packs/steamy tub baths also increase blood flow to the area and help the healing process.

Bruises will also come out lighter if you apply ice immediately after you get it.

Try using one that you reapply to exposed areas.

You cant just put it on once. Apply every hour if your sweating, or in the water.

I prefer coppertone brands they make a spray for quick apps.

Also if you can where a loose white top and sun visor .

There are also expnsv. sun block that Nutrogens makes that blocks out broad spectrum rays UVA/UVB ( more sun rays)called Ultra sheer, its good for faces.

Oh and if you clean your skin with an astringent, toner, or rubbing alcohol look at the cotton pad, it will be dark, it is your tan. What is the best way to restore your skin color after getting a tan from the sun?
you just have to let it fade. if you dont want to tan at all, cover up. and keep putting the sunscreen on.

you skin has released pigment and it has to work its way out of the cells for it to fade.
It seems to me you may be stuck being darker until such time as you can stay out of the sun. You might, however, check with Michael Jackson and see how he lightened up.
use a physical block (they have physical or chemical) that actually physically blocks the skin (think of the white stuff people put on there noses) i am sure you can find a product that works without looking white!

If you're sensitive to moisturisers and soaps try aqueous cream from the chemist. You can use it to cleanse by mixing it with water or by putting it on and rinsing it off. You can also rub it in afterwards as a moisturiser. If you are sensitive even to this you could just use petroleum jelly. You can leave this on over night and use it to cleanse by putting it on and wiping it off gently.

If it's an allergy antihistamines can help. Stress can bring out skin complaints. Drinking water is good for skin. How can i get rid of dry blotchy skin on my face?

By the look of your avatar I think you have greater concerns.

    LOL
I came across this treatment by chance. It worked absolutely wonders at totally and permanently healing my skin of seemingly impossible to heal conditions .Like pigmentations, discolorations, removing even a mole and curing severe, dry flaking skin. It eventually gave me a totally healthy and virtually blemish free skin and you too can have the same. The secret is to massage the face over and over quite vigorously. You have to be patient and keep up the massage on a daily basis for as long as you can. You will start seeing improvements in about 5 days and greater results in about two weeks. The skin then stays perfectly clear with an occasional massage.

Any oil will do. I prefer olive as it is a modest cost, is a natural moisturizer, quickly absorbs into skin.does not leave face oily. For best and quickest results, massage with a forward and back motion quite fast and firmly using finger tips and front and`side of fingers depending where on face you massage

I know that you can get a darkening under you underarms when you use deodorant with an anti-perspirant, but I've developed a dark 'stripe' under my arm that won't go away! You could try to use a toner, or even a tanner, to get tan. This may be caused by dry skin, so you could try a Neutrogena product that should work very well, they carry a lot for those kind of things.

    Good luck!

How do I transfer a tattoo design onto skin?

I want to sharpie a tribal style onto hubby, because he'll NEVER go for a real one. I have a great design, and I've tried the process of tracing it from carbon paper onto regular paper, slathering up the skin in speed stick gel and trying to get the ink to stick, but it doesn't work. Do I have to use special paper? Is there another process? How do I transfer a tattoo design onto skin?
use thermo hectergraph carbon paper and use less than 60 gram tracing paper, the thinner the better. and use very little dettol and water mix to apply to skinHow do I transfer a tattoo design onto skin?
Ok first you are on the right track with the tracing paper and speed stick but are you using a hectograph pencil? Only this kind of pencil will work with the speed stick. But usually you use this method right before the tattoo begins. It will wipe off if you are not careful. Dry skin takes the stencil better than mosturized skin.
Thin paper and ink...draw the pic on the wax paper and then transfer it to his body.

What vitamin / food is specifically good for skin, hair and nails?

I've had really bad skin, hair and nails for the last month or so, though I've tried to take care of them. What mineral might I be missing from my diet that is necessary for their upkeep? What vitamin / food is specifically good for skin, hair and nails?
Vitamin E, D and the B vitamins particularly Vitamin B6 and B12. There are compumd supplements on the market designed specifically for skin hair and nails. The most common brand is ';perfectil'; but most of the larger chemists and supermarkets do their own cheaper brands.

Diet wise lots of fruit and vegetables are very good for you. I swear by tomato juice which is high in vitamins and a strong antioxidant (gets rid of nasty free radicals which can damage skin and body cells.) Also high protein foods like cous cous and pine nuts - also yummy!

Green Tea is an excellent antioxidant which can help your skin.

Good lucWhat vitamin / food is specifically good for skin, hair and nails?
Omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Zinc, good old H2O
Fish is good especially sardines -eww
Calcium, potassium, and I want to say lutein and selenium, but double check on that.

Also, make sure you're drinking plenty of water. It seriously helps ALL those things. And make sure you're getting enough whole fiber. Good luck!
    That's right.
There are many vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients such as fatty acids etc that are useful for the well-being of skin, hair and nails. Generally, a well balanced diet and drinking loads of water should do the trick. In addition, you may wish to suppliment your diet with a daily dose of multi-vitamins but be careful because an overdose of vitamins can be as harmful as a deficiency.
    Vitamin E
    vitamin D
    b12 I think
    vitamin E
Vitamin A for hair and nails and Vitamin E for Skin. (there are a lot of vitamin E's get the Isomer E from GNC it has 'em all.
    Sure fruits %26amp; vegetables !!
You could cover most of your bases by using a general multivitamin and mineral complex once a day, like Centrum Forte. Two other products that can be used to fortify hair and nails are zinc and biotin, which can be purchased separately to supplement what is in the multivitamin tablet. Also, make sure that you are getting enough water, and a balanced diet, making sure that you get enough protein, which is something that often women lack the proper amount in their daily diet.

Any suggestions for a good foundation that will fight acne and aging? What is the best foundation for oily skin but is also anti-aging?
You might want to consider a mineral makeup as mineral powder settles over lines, not into them.

I am in my forties but no one has guessed my age since using kms mineral essentials. It is a great oil absorber when teamed with the mineral veil and provides a flawless looking complexion. It contains zinc oxide which has healing properties so it is a good choice for those who have acne or rosacea. It is a pure cosmetic with built in sunscreen so you would be doing something great for your skin. Kms is not yet available in stores but you can purchase their products online. What is the best foundation for oily skin but is also anti-aging?
Revlon Age Defying Make-up. My Aunty and Grandma use it and they swear by it. My Aunty has oily skin like you, but my Grandma has dry skin. The pictured foundation is the dry-skin version, but you can get for oily, dry and combination skins.

I think it costs between 20-30 Australian Dollars. It also has an SPF! Good Luck!
K, that's skin care for oily skin - always skin care first; then foundation. I use aularale.com/7002 for my oily skin - the moisture balancing system along w/vitamin c serum to fight acne and firm/tighten my skin; the elastin collagen night cream for bedtime. The foundations are water based (good for oily skin). Get enough rest/sleep, take a good vitamin/mineral supplement, drink more water and eat more fresh fruits/veggies.
There arent many foundations that fight wrinkles and help oily skin so a good way to do things is to apply a tiny amount of olay anti-aging lotion then wait a min. then apply a product that helps your oily skin. (I cant help exact skin types)Then apply a spray on foundation with a face sponge and it will give you an airbrushed look but will still fight the aging.

    All-fruit Acne diet

To begin with, the patient should take only an 'all-fruit' diet for a week, taking three meals a day, of fresh juicy fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, grapefruit, pineapples, and peaches. Only unsweetened lemon or plain water, either hot or cold, should be drunk and nothing else.

Can someone help me with my dogs skin irritation?

My dog has some slight hair loss, the hair that is left is getting a reddish tint, and her skin is getting discolorations. The hair that is turning red is only in the spot of the discoloring skin. Can someone help me with my dogs skin irritation?
    Dog Health:

    Hot Spots

Hot spot(s) occur usually in the dog, and are characterized by red, inflamed patches of skin which can ooze a clear or yellowish discharge.

These areas are extremely sensitive to the dog, and actually are a result of the dog constantly licking, biting, or scratching an area of skin until raw and inflamed. The cause of a hot spot can be a number of things, but usually anything which can result in the release of histamine or other ';mediators of inflammation'; as in cases of allergies, can start the process.

Stings from insects, scratches, small scrapes or wounds, all can be enough to cause the release of these inflammatory mediators, which start the itch-scratch cycle. What makes a hot spot different from another self-induced skin lesion known as an acral lick granuloma, is that the hot spot is usually created within hours. The acral lick granuloma takes days to months to form.

Also, the hot spot can occur anywhere on the body, and is less likely to occur on the limbs, where acral lick granuloma tends to form mainly on the limbs. Both of these conditions however, can be started from the release of inflammatory mediators in the area on the skin affected.

Treatment of the hot spot usually involves clipping the hair around the area of skin affected. This region is then cleansed with mild soap and water, and topical cortisone products, or anti-histamine products are applied. The main emphasis of treatment is geared towards keeping the dog from scratching at the area, as this is what started the hot spot in the first place.

Sometimes covering the area if possible, or putting a sock over the dog's foot to prevent scratching is advised. Clipping the nails helps as well. If an underlying cause is found such as an allergic condition, treatment with oral medication is then advised. Usually this is associated with multiple hot spot lesions. Single small lesions tend to respond well to topical therapy alone.

Your Pet's Skin %26amp; Coat Health

One common malady that occurs with temperature changes is problems with a dog or cat's skin and coat.

    Let's define ';healthy skin and coat'; so we're clear about what is considered ';normal.'; Don't confuse ';normal'; with ';common.';

Every day in my practice I see pets that have unhealthy skin and coats (usually due to improper nutrition) - so less than optimum is actually quite ';common.'; I've often thought a normal skin/coat condition was actually quite uncommon! Using your senses of touch, vision and smell you will begin to recognize the character of a ';normal'; or ';healthy'; skin and coat

http://www.petcaretips.net/skin_coat_hea鈥?/a>Can someone help me with my dogs skin irritation?
It could just be a ';hot spot'; these are common in some breeds (English Bulldogs for example). However hair loss and skin irritation could be much more. Ringworm and mange can cause both symptoms. Take your pup to the vet to make sure and hope its just an allergy.
you could try tea tree shampoo/ oil to sooth th skin and it would stop any itching.
sounds like flea infestation and or allergies .. make sure she has no fleas, try changing her food to a high quality dry kibble ( lamb and rice based) see what happens after a week....
it sounds like hot spots/food allergy. but the hair loss seem a bit odd..

for peace of mind, please go to a vet. nothing beats it.. you can have all the best advices in the world, but it is only when you go t a vet that you could be sure of what really is going on. theyre the professionals..

and besides, the earlier the condition is detected, the more effective treatment is. a vet checkup is a small price to pay for your dog's long time over all health. :)
Yes - a vet, and only a vet, can help you. No one on here has examined the dog, so please don't take any notice of any treatment they may 'prescribe' to you!

It could be flea allergic dermatitis, or some other form of allergy, or it could be a hot spot (area of localised skin irritation). All these things require attention from a vet.

    Chalice
could be food allergies... try not to feed any grains...oats, rice, flour, corn... go for a higher protein diet.

That might mean taking her off whatever dog food you are feeding her... and feed her low fat cottage cheese... and raw meat... cut up some stewing meat...or rabbit or fish and see what happens.

Drinking pure, clean water is always going to be a great beauty boost for your skin. It flushes out the toxins from your system, benefitting your skin.

If you're looking for a quick fix, it is amazing how altering your diet helps. Cutting out refined, processed foods wherever possible and sticking to wholesome, whole products such as lean meats, wholegrain bread, rice and cereals will clear your skin dramatically if its anything like mine. Salt also has a tendancy to make skin look dull and tired, as does caffeine, ciggarettes and alcohol.

Try a healthy diet for a few weeks and you'll see a great difference.
    aw its hard
    Get some Invisibility paint.
drink lots and lots of water and eat pineapple, bananas and grapes

    blueberries are excellent too

u dont need fancy products to get ur skin to look good..

    glowing skin comes naturally .x.x.x..
Honestly and unsarcastically, the majority of that is:

    1) Genetics

    2) A healthy diet

    3) Soap and water
    For acne:

Mix baking soda and witch hazel/or water together until it comes to a good constancy, and then spread on your face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. these two things are very inexpensive and it's very easy to do since there is only two ingredients.

Toothpaste is good for drying out your pimple (for some people). Put only a little bit before you go to sleep. Some people use this as a mask but DON‘T EVER DO THIS! It can change your skin tone and make your face discolored.

Aloe vera helps scars lighten and less noticeable (lemon, cocoa butter, witch hazel, and tea tree oil do the same thing). Use the gel (of the aloe plant) or the real thing.

Try to buy a cleanser that works for you, and when you wash your face, open your pores with hot water (not too hot, or it will dry out your skin) and massage it gently into your skin. Then, use cold water at the end to close you pores. The smaller your pores are, the less likely you're prone to pimples. Clearasil, Neutrogena, and proactive are good choices to start if you want a cleanser. Don't use body soaps because they dry out your skin. Don't scrub too hard either, because it can irritate your skin.

An egg yoke can be used to make you pores smaller. I used this when I had pimples. Just take the egg yolk (the yellow part) and leave it on your face for 10-15 minutes and rinse off with warm water and then splash your face with cold water.

Keep your hair out of your face because the oils in your hair could go into your pores. Change you sheets because they're are trapped with dirt, oils, etc.

Zinc (type of vitamin) is the one of the best things you can use to get rid of pimples. You can buy these almost about any large store (such as Wal-Mart or Shaws.) Have one tablet per day and try to cut down the junk food and replace it with vegetables and fruits. Drink lots of water and don't pop you acne. Popping acne can lead to acne scars.

If you have sensitive skin, don't use make up. Some of the things in make up can clog your pores and cause pimples. Keep your hands out of your face as much as you can because you hands are full of bacteria and oils.
Sorry, tried them all and the only thing that worked for me was Proactiv Solution. It's $45.90 for the kit and they send it to you every other month. You use the 3 stage system twice daily (you must do this religiously or it won't be as effective). I get it monthly because me and my husband both use it and have been for nearly 8 years!!
I had the same problem. I went to the dermatologist and I got a cream for my face and these pad things you wipe on your back. If that's not an option for you then you can always just try not to touch your face often, wash your face in the morning and night, and cut down on caffeine!!!

Pop, tea, chocolate, candy- all those count. I gave up pop for Lent and my face looks totally better. I hope I could help you out and good luck :]
It really depends on what's going on with your skin, is it dry, oily, pimples, etc. For a quick fix only, try makeup. Did you say African? try some shea butter.

How do I quickly get rid of skin blemishes?

How do I quickly get rid of skin blemishes? I would like nice clear skin quickly I use products but are there any other natural or other solutions for this? How do I quickly get rid of skin blemishes?
There are so many options and I don't know your exact skin care regimen, skin type or problems but I can tell you what I do. I'm an Aesthetician so I've seen a lot of products and a lot of problems. What works wonders is Tea Tree oil. It's a natural antimicrobial and it won't clog your pores just because it's an oil :) It's great for your skin! It can even be applied directly to the area without diluting or mixing with a carrier oil. Go to your local natural health food store and pick up a bottle for around 6 bucks (it lasts a while too). Apply it to you blemishes at night and it will heal your blemishes fast and naturally. You can also pour it into witch hazel and use it as your toner after you cleanse day/night. Hope this helps! How do I quickly get rid of skin blemishes?
If there are just one or two blemishes, then try using toothpaste. It quickly dries the offenders. Just dab a little on at night. If you have more than one or two, then try using a daily face wash for a week and blot dry with a soft towel. Don't over-scrub or over-treat to avoid redness or swelling. Avoid oily foods (and chocolate) and wash your face after exercising and before bed, removing all make-up. Drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest. Avoid fast-foods too. Your skin is reflective of overall health and well-being. Your monthly cycle will also affect breakouts as hormones fluctuate. Be extra careful during those times not to indulge in foods that upset your natural balance.
The main thing is to stay hydrated. Drink loads of water. Also exercise. Sweating is a good way to keep the pores clear. Natural fish oils are supposed to be good for skin as well as vitamin A, E and D.
the drugstore bought skin care stuff is bad, and makes your skin get worse, because of all the chemical stuff in it.

just use the natural made stuff that isnt store bought.

How to use lemon oil on the skin?

I've heard that lemon oil is good for oily skin as well as blemishes, of which I have both. I already know not to use it before going out in the sun, but what's the best way to use it? I plan on adding it to my nighttime moisturizer, but how much should I add? About how many drops? Thanks for any help! On another note, what are some other all-natural remedies to combat oily skin? How to use lemon oil on the skin?
OK my mum is an aromatherapist, reflexologist and massuer - shes been lecturing me on this stuff since i could brush my teeth by myself!

Rule 1 - never use it neat !

If you are going to use it in a cream thats the perfect base-my mum and i buy unscented nivea cream in the little pot and mix stuff into it all the time. I would say 1 drops for each 2 tsp of oil because it does go along way and if you use it too strong it can have adverse effects.

If your notting putting it into a crem then just put it into any other oil..almond oil is a good one , but ordinary sunflower cooking oil is fine too - you cant really go wrong =)

Lavender oil is GREAT for oily skin and so is teatree oil .. we get ours from amphora - the come in little 5ml bottles and last like a year or 2 xxxxx Also wiping sliced lemon or raw sliced potato is good for your skin =D hope I helped xxx

Firstly, if I were you I'd speak to a doctor/ dermatologist or at least a beauty therapist about what might be causing your breakouts. It could be as easy as changing your diet or addressing a hormonal imbalance.

In the meantime, maintain your 3 step cycle of cleansing, toning and moisturising morning and night, using a scrub at least once a week will remove dead skin debris which can clog your pores further, try a mask as well Payot makes an excellent drawing out mask.

When it comes to make up, use a foundation which is (obviously) oil free but also (very important) non-comodogenic and non-acnedogenic, this will prevent blackheads, whiteheads and pimples that can be caused by make-up.

The kind of foundation you buy will also depend on the finish you want. If you want to mattify your skin a powder-based/ pancake foundation with those qualities I mentioned above will work best because the powder particles absorb oil a lot better.

If you're after a more natural finish but still want coverage a liquid foundation (again, with those properties I mentioned before) will work well. The liquid foundations melt much more easily into the skin so they give a much more radiant, natural finish. Applying it with your *clean* fingers will give you an even better result.

If you're after top quality, Clinique is wonderful. They have over 36 different types of foundations at least 10 of which are for your skin type, in many forms, so you can see if you like solid make up or liquid more. If you want something that will still work but won't break the bank, Revlon Colorstay makeup for Oily/ Combination Skin (liquid) is what I use for everyday and it has fantastic coverage with a very natural finish. Their pancake is also very good.

When it comes to the zit end of the equation, foundation can't do it all. A concealer is your best weapon. You can use a green stick to neutralise the redness of your spots and then cover with some foundation and a little brush or another concealer that matches your skin tone.

Never bulk up your make up, that includes foundation *and* concealer. You won't hide the imperfections completely, what you need to do is minimise them and draw attention away from them. This is easily achieved with matt products and colours that *match* (a concealer that is too light/ dark will *draw* the eye to your flaws).

And remember, for any skin problem: ';Chin up and a concealer in your pocket.'; The rest will take of itself.

Well i use Maybelline's pure makeup. works great for any skin type.

the pure foundation is 50% waterbased and oil free. wont clog pores. and it wont cause breakouts. has long lasting coverage. has vitE, alow, chamomile to soothe skin. its sooo skin friendly. i LOVE this product. my classmates and schoolmates have commented me and siad i look blooming. :) its a gel/liquid foundation by the way. full coverage and you can ask a saleslady at the department store to help you find a shade that matches your skintone.

after you apply the foundation, you can use the pure concealer to cover those scars or whatever. but the foundation can give good coverage already. but to be sure about the coverage, use the concealer also. its a pencil concealer.

after concealing, touch up with the pure powder. that also includes aloe, chamomile, and vitE to soothe skin. just pat lightly onto your face. whenever you need to retouch, just use the powder. no need to apply foundation again and again. i love maybelline's puremakeup!!!!

since you have oily skin like me, you should always bring oil blotting sheets with you. if you always reapply too much powder, itll make you look all cakey and stuff. so i recommend clean and clear's oil blotting sheets, which will absorb all the oil without smearing your makeup!
The best is Peter Thomas Roth. All their products are oil free. I personally love love love them
I have realllly oily skin and started using bare minerals a few months ago. It has helped soooooo much! Even if you don't want to use their foundation, at least get their mineral veil...you can put it on underneath, on top of, or both of whatever foundation you choose to use. It instantly sucks up ALL the oil on your skin and keeps it that way! I use the mineral veil 2 times a day and it keeps my skin perfect.

Wash your face frequently with cold water and use a face pack of grated apple. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for oily skin at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/oilyskin.htm鈥?/a> .
Mineral Foundation is Awesome for oily skin. I use Arbonne. It's way less expensive than Bare Minerals, and it's better. All of Arbonne's stuff is botanically based, pure, safe, and beneficial.

I have really oily, olive complexion, and even after wearing all day, my skin looks great. It gives you a fresh, glowy kinda look. Not a heavy greasy gloppy coverage.

    I use a combination of the Arbonne skin care products. The ';Intelligence'; line is self adjusting. I use the moisturizer and thermal mask. I use the anti aging line of face wash it's called ';NutriminC Re9';

I signed up to buy the stuff wholesale cuz I loved it so much. Been using it since September and my skin feels so good.

You can check it out at http://www.arbonne.com

and if you want to order you'll need to enter a consultant ID# , you can use mine...it's 16459642.

It only cost me $29 for a year membership to order wholesale at 35% off...kinda like a Sam's club.

Arbonne works for me, and I had the same problem
Ok...I have major oily skin...so here's a list of products I've used and liked:

    Cleansers:

Clinique cleanser for oily skin (it can be a little drying though)

Neutrogena cleanser for oily skin (the yellow, clear liquid)

Neutrogena gentle cream cleanser (will not irritate break outs)

    Toners:

    Burt's Bee's Garden Tomato toner

Clean and Clear Toner for problem skin (will help with the breakouts)

Witch tree toner (you can buy at any health food store)

    Scrubs

    Clinique scrub with salictic acid

    Neutrogena deep pore scrub

    Burt's bees orange peel scrub

    Mask

Queen Helene, mint julep mud masque (nothing beats the price of this basic mud masque...should be used once a week).

To me, Neutrogena and Clinique are the best lines in regards to oily skin but you might have to mix and match a lot.

I have finally figured out that to me, in regards to products, less is more.

Clinique is a bit pricy for me, so I use neutrogena's daily scrub an I also keep a bottle of the gentle cream cleanser which I alternate usage when I feel my skin is getting a bit irritated by all the chemicals I have been using.

I also do a masque once a week, usually on weekends. If your skin is really oily, I suggest a mud masque. If it's oily but somewhat irritated or sensitive because of break outs, I suggest a peel off mask, like Freeman's...

In regards to moisturizer, the only stuff that ever worked for my skin was oil of olay, oil free moisturizer with SPF 15. It's got the SPF which is a must no matter what and it doesn't clog my pores.

    Good luck!
it just so happens that my nose and forehead are extremely oily, but also my cheeks do their part as well. I start my day using Neutrogena Oil Free Acdne wash. I have used it for 6 years, followed by Alcohol Free Toner. I use their Oil Free SPF 15 moisturizer and follw with Smashbox PhotoFinish silicone primer. Any makeup after that should stay pretty much all work day, but might be reapplied for night time. I use Bare Escentuals foundations, because their powder, a little goes a long way, and the powder will absorb any oil that sneaks through. Let me know what works for you. Good luck!
I had the same problem. i switched to Mary Kay and had great results. (I started selling it 4 years later because I loved it so much.)

Mary Kay products I recommend from experience:

Oil Control Lotion 3 - it can be a moisterizer or work with a moisterizer and controls oil all day.

Oil Mattifier - you can dab this on anytime of day and it will instantly disolve oil! Can go on over or under make-up.

Use powder over foundation-it really helps!

    Deep Cleanser

Oil Free hydrating gel at night. It gives you moisture(which even oily skin needs) but doesn't add grease or oil. Is Not a lotion.
Use oil free cosmetics, check that they are water base and not oil, it'll help u alot.
A drugstore solution to your problem would be to try maybelline's pure makeup line, its 50% water but it has zero oil and keeps your skin clean and fresh looking all day long! a little goes a long way so you might want to try mixing it with a oil free light moisturizer. This makeup blends like a dream and does not clog pores at all. I swear by this makeup, since I've started using this makup in conjunction with my moisturizer, I cant tell you how many compliments I get on my skin. You will GLOW!
Oh my - let me tell you - I started using Bare Escentuals in January and have almost the entire collection now! I LOVE IT! You can start out with the starter kit, you get two foundations - you usually have to mix them a bit to get the right color - its so simple! You get Warmth - which looks dark but it isn't - it just adds a natural sunlight look to you. You get Mineral Veil - it perfects your look and gives you that smooth finish : )

You get three brushes - the brushes are unlike any other - don't try any imitations - the B.E. brushes are wonderful! You usually get a starter DVD also - you will watch it the first couple times you put it on - I remember I panicked and thought Id never remember the order to put it on : )

I put mine on a little heavier than the DVD suggests - it works well for me.

They are on QVC all the time, so check QVC for great deals : )

I have almost all of my friends and co-workers wearing B.E. now - we are addicted : )

I think my favorite would be the Well Rested for your eyes - no matter how tired you are - you put that around your eyes and you look...well...well rested!

Oh - and the Bisque - it covers trouble spots - liver spots - blemishes - dark circles and other things : )

It DOESN'T come off when you sweat - its safe to sleep in!

I cant say enough about this make up - try it - you will LOVE it!

Oh - and don't panic - your face might feel a little dry the first 3 - 4 days that you use it - but it will go away!

    Hope this helps -

    ~ B.E. NUT! : )
