I use an astringent now. It works great; sometimes too great. I always get a break out a few days after using it.What a good product for exfoliating your skin?
A toner may be good temporarily, but it dries out skin instead of removing the dead skin cells that exfoliating does. An inexpensive exfoliator is St. I ves Apricot Scrub. They make many combinations of this exfoliating scrub - normal, acne prone (with salicylic acid), sensitive, anti wrinkle, etc. It runs about $2.50-$3.00. Another to try is Olay Regenerist, Clinique, etc. There is no need to spend a fortune on an exfoliator. The St. Ives has been around for a long time...and there's a reason for it...it really works. Good Luck! What a good product for exfoliating your skin?
The one product that I absolutely love is Neutrogena's Daily Scrub. It is an exfoliator and I think it works awesome. Before I go to bed, I use it and follow up with the astringent.
I've used St. Ives Scrub or the Neutragena Scrub.
To go totally natural, mix oatmeal flakes and egg white together, put on your face, leave on for about 5-10 minutes and rinse with warm water. Follow-up with a mild astringent (Neutragena's good) or even something like Witch Hazel.
I really like St. Ives invigorating scrub. It has really helped with my acne. That product won an award for Allure readers choice and it is under $5 for a big tube.
I think St. Ives Apricot Scrub is okay, but for extra deep action use Clinique's face scrub. The combination of menthol and calcium particules make for a thorough removal of dead skin and opening of pores to clean easier.
A product like this should be used only occassionally, twice a week or so.
An astringent is not an exfoliator. They are two different things.
An astringent is usually alcohol based and restores the pH to your skin after washing.
An exfoliator removes dead skin cells.
But to answer your question, a mild, daily exfoliator that works very well is baking soda.

I use a brand new potscrubber. One of the soft ones, with a sponge on the back. With a mixture of raw honey and white sugar. Works like a charm and cheap to boot.
Any good exfoliater should do the trick and if it exfoliates too much then look 4 mild exfoiator or the once for sensetive skin......:)
I have sensitive skin and really enjoy the Aveeno Skin Brightening Scrub, better than the Neutrogena.
My favourite exfoliant is the Dr Lewinn's Private Formula Facial Polishing Gel. It has jojoba wax beads and is very gentle, yet very effective. And it smells and feels amazing. It is a little pricey though, so if you're looking for something less expensive, try the St Ives Apricot Scrub. It's rougher than the Dr Lewinn's, so you can only use it twice a week, and be gentle with it. It's been around for years and years, and is a very good product for its price.
Astringent will not exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating means removing the dead skin. Astringent is not designed for this purpose.
