What is the best remedy for dry skin other than lotions?

Is it possible for skin to become addicted to lotion. Because if it is, by hands certainly are and lotion doesn't work. I have been putting olive oil on them but that doesn't seem to work either. Any help? What is the best remedy for dry skin other than lotions?
To get the best benefit from olive oil, which is a wonderful natural healer and moisturizer, you have to massage it into skin over and over very thoroughly. If you do that it cannot only heal dry skin but get rid of many skin blemishes. It rid my skin of discolorations and brown spots and even moles overtime and lessened wrinkles and even rejuvenated skin, giving it a healthy, natural glow. Massage for a few minutes and you will see!

I saw two skin care experts on a talk show. They said that most lotions cannot penetrate the skin inless they contain alpha hydrox, an anti oxidant. So, I changed my face moisturizer to one with alpha hydrox, and within in six weeks I did see an improvement around my eyes. You might try to find a hand lotion with alpha hydrox.

Also, Eucerin make good body lotions for dry skin and so does Vaseline. You might also try coconut oil or Vitamin E oil.

Apply lotions after a warm shower... pores are more open then.
Dry skin needs plenty of cleansing, massage and generous quantities of oil and moisture. Use aloe vera gel after bathing on the dry areas. There are many helpful tips to cure dry skin at http://useinfo-dryskin.blogspot.com/
Creamy Vaseline- with white cotton gloves(over in pharmacy)try to remember and wash but do not dry in dryer.

Took me a long time to find this out........................
Drink lots of water. Not only is it good for you but it also hydrates your body from the inside out.
Lotions are lighter than creams, so go with a hand cream.
