What is the name of the skin rash called that my husband has had for 5 years and how is it treated?

My husband has had a skin rash for five years.

It looks like measles - small red bumps covering his back, chest, and some of his arms...

The dermatologists do not know what it is, or how to treat it.

Has anyone heard of this?

It is very upsetting that no one has been able to help him.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! What is the name of the skin rash called that my husband has had for 5 years and how is it treated?
This is only guessing, as we saw even less of the rash than the specialist doctors did, but.....

the areas you described are exactly the areas covered by SHIRTS.

Either he is allergic to one of the fabrics (wool and nylon are two common materials to be allergic to)

OR he is allergic to the washing powder or ironing aid spray being used on the shirts.

New shirts, especially knits like Tshirts, are stiffened with a sizing to make them look smooth and attractive. Sometimes this contains formalin, which can be very irritating to the skin. New clothes, especially cotton ones, should be washed before the first wearing. IF he has sensitive skin they should be washed twice.

Try having him wear nothing but PURE cotton (not polyester mix) shirts. Do not use bleach in the wash, or sprays when ironing them. He should use an unscented soap, or, better still, a lotion called SORBALENE. This is available at chemists or supermarkets. It does not foam up like soap, but cleans like soap, while leaving the skin moisturised.

For fresh irritations, try Aloe Vera creams or jelly. There's one type made to treat sunburn which is great on other skin problems too. What is the name of the skin rash called that my husband has had for 5 years and how is it treated?
I am not sure but it could be eczema.

It is not the same for all people which could be why it has not been diagnosed yet. I get it on my palms and the bottom of my feet about two - three times a year and my nephew gets it all the time and EVERYWHERE except his hands and feet.

Just a thought

**Treatment is different for each person as well, if you find out that is what it is it can be controlled with diet, medications, creams, etc.
If he is really itchy it might be scabes? Then you need to get a medicine you paint over the body from the neck down. It will be gone in no time.

I picked up scabese in 'hospital' and it was unbearable. the relief amazing, the solution really easy.
I had something that sounds similar. I was told to use selsun. He said just put selsun blue on your body over night until it goes away and then I just shower with it and it runs down my body. I only get them in the summertime.
The skin rash source below may help.
